In September of 2011 Andy presided over WILG’s first ever town hall meeting for which WILG invited all of its over 900 members in each of the 50 states to attend a virtual state of the union discussion.
In conjunction with the American Association of Justice Convention in July of 2011 in New York, NY WILG also held its board meeting. Andy and family were pleased to meet with the Honorable Senator US Casey from Pennsylvania.
Andy quoted on the internet by Lexis Nexis regarding workers’ compensation by Lexis Nexis – July 8, 2011 The AIA’s Positions on Workers’ Compensation Issues— Medical Costs, AMA Guides Sixth Edition, State Funds, and California’s Left Coast.
In June of 2011 Andy made his third trip to North Carolina in the course of a year and met with the North Carolina Associates of Justice (NCAJ) workers’ compensation section giving them a further update from WILG and discussed how WILG and NCAJ might better work together.
In June of 2011 Andy was pleased to be invited to speak at the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association convention in Dewey Beach, DE. He spoke on the topic of multistate workers’ compensation as it relates to Delaware and other states around the country.
In June of 2011 Andy and numerous other workers’ compensation lawyers attended the National Academy of Social Insurance in Washington, DC. Among the honorees of the event was Jim Ellenberger. In April of 2011 Andy was privileged to speak on behalf of workers’ compensation claimants’ attorneys all over America at the 100 year symposium in Boston, MA. The symposium featured numerous speakers including Professor John Burton, Professor Arthur Larson among others. April 2011:
Workers’ Compensation was the first social reform in America dating back to 1911. On this edition of Workers’ Comp Matters, host Attorney Alan S. Pierce, joins Andrew J. Reinhardt from the firm Reinhardt | Harper | Davis, PLC, at the Workers’ Compensation Centennial in Boston, Massachusetts, to discuss the latest in workers’ compensation and celebrate 100 years. Andy talks about his work with Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG), legislative matters and upcoming congressional hearings in Washington DC pertaining to workers’ compensation.
In March of 2011 a rally of many thousands of people appeared in New York at the foot of the shirtwaist factory in memory of the fire of 1911 that precipitated the birth of workers’ compensation throughout America. Andy and numerous other advocates for injured workers were pleased to be present at the rally, the shirtwaist dinner and other activities at the museum of the Fire Department of New York.
Getting involved in practice groups or your local bar association can be a huge benefit to your solo practice or law firm. On The Landy Law Letter, host John L. Torvi, from the Herbert H. Landy Insurance Agency of Needham, Massachusetts welcomes Attorney Andrew J. Reinhardt, partner in the Richmond, Virginia law firm of Reinhardt | Harper | Davis, to explore benefits of getting involved in specialty practice groups and bar associations. Andrew points out the general differences between a State Bar Association and a Specialty Practice Group, practical reasons why an attorney would want to join a Specialty Practice Group and how his involvement has impacted him professionally.
Andy was honored to be invited to speak to the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA) and also present the Esther Weismann award on behalf of WILG to CAAA president, Barry Hinden in January of 2011.
In January of 2011 the WILG executive committee and board members met in San Diego, CA for long range planning and other important matters. The group also had some time to socialize.
